SIA is always a good time and I have gotten lucky enough to go the past three years. The first time was in 2010 and my wife was 9 months pregnant. Lesson learned; don’t go out of town when your wife is 9 months pregnant. I ended up missing the birth of my 2 child by 1 hour because I was at SIA. Last year when I came home my wife told me she was expecting and now this year I made it to and from with no baby news. So for those of you that don’t know SIA is a four day ski and snowboard trade show that takes place in Denver Colorado, where companies come from around the world to show their product lines for the following year. I love attending and it is always great to see next years gear in person and meet a ton of great people.
So here are some pics from my phone, enjoy. Next step is to figure out what you need for next season, I know I’m already working on figuring it out.
The two trends I see being hot next year are in binding innovations and the return of skis in the 100 to 110 mm waist. Some of the bindings to keep an eye out for are: The Beast from Dynafit, a 16 din tech binding, also Salomon changed up the platform and look of the trusted STH series, and Tyrolia takes a clue from Marker and introduces the Attack, a 16 din alpine binding based on the Adrenaline binding. The return of skis with waist from 100 to 110 seemed to be the theme of the show. The skis to keep your eye out for are: the Rossignol Soul 7, Nordica El Capo, Dynastar Cham 107, Blizzard Cochise, ON3p Vicik, Atomic Ritual, Elan Spectrum 105, Fischer Watea 105, Line Sick Day and most of these have a flat tail or small tail rocker..
Enjoy the pictures, and good luck finding the right gear for you next season.
