On an overcast and blustery Monday I made my way up to Alta Ski Resort accompanied by a couple buddies to earn some turns. We arrived at the parking lot around 11am, with wind and light rain whipping at our backs we made the ascent up the ridge of Alta and Snowbird to the Baldy Shoulder Area. After taking a moment to snack up and enjoy the view we got packed and strapped for the descent. The snow conditions were less than ideal, but we hadn’t expected anything fancy seeing as we were shredding in mid May. After ripping a few wide sticky turns down the Baldy Shoulder we made our way back to the Wildcat Base and back to our car. Whether the conditions are less than favorable or you wish the lifts were running there is an undeniable satisfaction gained from earning your turns. Take a half day, grab your gear and some buddies, and go get yourself some turns!
